Prize Distribution Function of the 48th Youth parliament Competition, 2013-2014 for the Schools under the Directorate of Education, Govt. of NCT of Delhi and new Delhi municipal Council

The Prize Distribution Function of the 48th Youth Parliament Competition, 2013-2014 for the schools under the Directorate of Education, Govt. of NCT of Delhi and NDMC will be held at 3.00 p.m on Friday, the 31st of January, 2014 in GMC Balayogi Auditorium, Parliament Library Building, Parliament House Complex, New Delhi.

            Shri Rajeev Shukla, Minister of State in the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs and Minister of State in the Ministry of Planning, will preside over the function and distribute the prizes to the prize-winning students and schools for their meritorious performance in the competition. 

Presentation Convent Sr. Sec. School, Shyama PrasadMukherjee Marg, Delhi-6 will receive the “Pandit Motilal Nehru Running-Parliamentary Shield” having stood first in the 48th Youth Parliament Competition. 

Trophy for the best education district in the competition will be awarded to the South West ‘B’ Education District, Directorate of Education, Govt. of NCT of Delhi and Trophy for standing first among new entrant schools too will be awarded to Presentation Convent Sr. Sec. School, Delhi-6. Besides, Trophies will also be awarded to following eight Schools for their meritorious performance in the competition-

(i)                 Rajkiya Pratibha Vikas Vidyalaya, Sector 10, Dwarka;

(ii)               Navyug School, Peshwa Road;

(iii)             Sarvodaya Co-ed Sr. Sec. School, Moti Bagh II;

(iv)             Navyug School, Lodhi Road;

(v)               Mira Model School, B Block, Janak Puri;

(vi)             Joseph and Mary Public School, Sant Nagar, Burari;

(vii)                       Delhi International Public School, Rohini;

(viii)                     Rajkiya Sarvodaya Kanya VidyalayaDallupura.


            From a humble beginning in 1966 when the first Competition was organisedin 16 Schools of the Delhi Administration, by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, the Youth Parliament Scheme now covers 1200 schools in NCT of Delhi, 1200 KendriyaVidyalayas, 600 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas and 300 Universities/ Colleges throughout the country.

            The Youth Parliament Scheme aims at familiarizing the students with the practice and procedures of Parliament, techniques of discussion and debate and develop in them leadership qualities, the spirit of self discipline and tolerance of diverse opinions and healthy competition- all of which are the hallmark of a democracy.
